House Obsidian is a soft furnishing project designed for a high-rise residence in central Shanghai, where panoramic city views meet a deep, immersive interior palette. This home is a study in tonal discipline and sculptural restraint—crafted for a client who values serenity, minimalism, and material depth.
The design emphasizes a monochromatic approach, layering shades of grey, black, and muted olive to create a space that feels grounded and contemplative. Custom furniture with low, architectural profiles enhances the horizontality of the space, while soft curves in the sofa and armchairs introduce an organic counterpoint to the rectilinear layout. Reflective accents—such as the chrome arc lamp and stone surfaces—bring in light and texture, balancing the matte finishes and moody tones with moments of subtle contrast.
House Obsidian embodies a refined form of contemporary minimalism, where luxury is expressed through quiet confidence rather than ornamentation. Every piece is intentional, every silhouette distilled. It’s a home designed for calm focus and private retreat—introspective, sculptural, and enduringly modern.
